A Haitian illegal immigrant who was accused of raping a disabled person was released from Boston, Massachusetts, despite a request from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to detain him.
In December 2022, the Haitian national initially arrived in the United States from Brownsville, Texas, where he was issued a summons to appear before an immigration magistrate of the Department of Justice in Boston.
The foreign national was then detained by Boston police in September 2023 on charges of rape and assault and battery against an individual with a developmental disability.
ICE ERO issued more than 170,000 administrative arrests during the 2023 fiscal year, an increase of nearly 20% compared to the previous year.
The number comprises 73,822 noncitizens and illegal aliens with a prior criminal record, including 1,615 arrests for abduction, over 33,000 charges or convictions for assault, and 1,713 for homicide-related offenses. ICE ERO reports that 3,406 known or suspected gang members and 139 known or suspected terrorists were apprehended.
The ICE ERO arrest coincides with an extraordinary influx of ten million undocumented immigrants who have crossed the border into the United States since Joe Biden assumed office.
A record number of southern border encounters were recorded in November 2023, when nearly a quarter million foreign nationals attempted to enter the United States.
The augmented figures encompass, among other nations, a record-breaking influx of Chinese nationals and an unlawful immigration surge of one thousand percent originating from Afghanistan, Ethiopia, and the Dominican Republic.
Border security and mass illegal immigration are anticipated to emerge as pivotal subjects in the upcoming presidential election.
