Earlier on Wednesday morning, the United States Air Force reportedly successfully fired a hypersonic missile in order to demonstrate that the nation’s nuclear deterrent remains formidible.
Just a few hours after Russia deployed its ‘Yars’ intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) for combat training, the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) exercise began at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California at one in the morning Pacific Time (five in the morning Eastern Time).
In order to evaluate the capabilities of the present missile system, the test gathered and analyzed performance data in addition to other important data points.
While traveling at a speed of 15,000 miles per hour, the nuclear missile lifted off in the middle of the night and headed toward a test range in the Pacific Ocean, close to Kwajalein Atoll.
Approximately 22 minutes were required for it to finish the 4,200-mile trek.
A hypersonic weapon was developed with the intention of striking any target anywhere in the world within thirty minutes of its deployment.
There are two countries that are considered to be dangers to the United States: Moscow is approximately 5,900 miles distant from California, and Beijing is around 6,000 miles away.
Today’s test launched an unarmed missile, despite the fact that the intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) of the United States is also capable of carrying three nuclear warheads of the Mk 12A variety, each of which can load up to 350,000 tons of TNT.
The United States Air Force selected a missile at random from the F.E. Warren Air Force installation in Wyoming and then carried it more than 1,300 miles to the state of California, where it was reassembled.
