Senator Ted Cruz reportedly criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky following a contentious Oval Office meeting with President Donald Trump.
The meeting concluded abruptly, leading to the cancellation of a scheduled joint press conference and the termination of a mineral agreement between the two nations.
Reports indicate that President Trump dismissed President Zelensky from the White House premises.
On his “Verdict” podcast, Senator Cruz expressed that Zelensky approached the meeting with a confrontational mindset, aiming to challenge President Trump.
Cruz described the encounter as potentially “the most disastrous Oval Office meeting in the history of our nation.”
He further speculated that Zelensky’s actions during the meeting could jeopardize his political career, suggesting that the Ukrainian leader might face significant repercussions, possibly leading to his removal from office in the near future.
“Zelensky is going to deeply regret doing so. And what’s amazing is he keeps doubling down. I think there’s a very good possibility, as I said, that Zelensky does not politically survive this, and within days that he’s out of office.” Cruz noted.
Cruz also emphasized that Zelensky’s conduct may have adversely affected Ukraine’s interests and global peace efforts.
He criticized the Ukrainian president for his approach, implying that it could have long-term negative consequences for both his country and international diplomatic relations.
