Joe Scarborough, a broadcaster on MSNBC, reportedly criticized former President Donald Trump’s CNN town hall meeting.
Scarborough compared Trump’s version of America to Vladimir Putin’s Russia during the event, which was moderated by “CNN This Morning” host and former White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins.
Trump also pushed back on prevailing narratives and lamented the 2020 election.
“The most shocking part was an audience who cheered on a president who tried to overturn American democracy, an audience that mocked and ridiculed the woman who a jury of her peers, Donald Trump’s peers, found had been sexually assaulted,” Scarborough claimed.
“You can go piece by piece by piece to talk about how breathtakingly dangerous what we saw was last night. This virus of lies that’s been loosened on the American people,” he continued.
He continued to bemoan Trump’s assertion that he could settle the conflict between Russia and Ukraine suddenly, contending that Trump had essentially declared he would hand Ukraine over to Putin without a struggle.
Scarborough, though, argued that Trump’s campaign would still eat it up and declare success despite the risk he thought was clear.
“There is, this morning, a lightning bolt going through the American electorate and it’s reminding everybody the stakes of a second Donald Trump presidency,” he concluded.
