Newly released satellite photos purport that Communist China is working with the Cuban government to establish a military spy base not far from the American naval facility at Guantanamo Bay.

The newest espionage post is being constructed at El Salao, a village outside of Santiago de Cuba, according to photos obtained by The Wall Street Journal.

The base’s construction, which had not before been publicized, started during President Joe Biden’s first term in office.

Even though the Chinese are utilizing outdated equipment that the United States and Russia have long since stopped using, the base will probably be able to spy on the American naval outpost at Guantanamo Bay, according to the article.

According to the article, El Salao’s espionage facility is the island’s fourth of its kind. The locations of the other bases are in Wajay, Calabazar, and Bejucal.

According to intelligence officials, China is using Cuba’s proximity to the United States to spy on American citizens and intercept critical electronic communications from American military bases, space facilities, and commercial and military shipping.

As a result, the bases pose a serious threat to the country’s national security.

The announcement coincides with China’s aggressive efforts to destabilize the United States in the region and usurp the country as the world’s preeminent superpower by extending its influence and footprint throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
