Steve Bannon, a former adviser to President Trump, reported to prison on Monday and is currently detained.
After being found guilty of contempt of Congress for disobeying a subpoena from the select committee on January 6, Bannon will serve a four-month term.
On Friday, the Supreme Court rejected his request to have his sentencing delayed while he challenges the conviction.
On Monday, the Bureau of Prisons verified that he is currently being held.
Just before noon, he started serving his term at the Federal Correctional Institute Danbury.
A federal appeals court maintained Bannon’s conviction in May. Attorneys for Bannon have stated that they plan to request a Supreme Court review or an en banc rehearing before the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals.
