Former Vice President Kamala Harris reportedly announced Thursday that she is releasing a memoir chronicling what is now the shortest major-party presidential campaign in modern American history — a 107-day sprint that ended in electoral defeat and internal Democratic disarray.

The book, titled 107 Days, is being marketed as a behind-the-scenes look at Harris’s brief and turbulent run for the White House after President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 race, following his disastrous debate performance against Donald Trump.

Biden’s faltering debate delivery raised new concerns about his mental acuity, ultimately forcing Democrats to scramble for a successor with just over three months left until Election Day. Harris was chosen by party leadership to fill the void.

In a video message posted to social media, Harris framed the memoir as a personal reflection: “Just over a year ago, I launched my campaign for President of the United States. A hundred and seven days traveling the country, fighting for our future — the shortest presidential campaign in modern history. It was intense, high-stakes, and deeply personal for me and for so many of you.”

While the book appears to be pitched as a message of perseverance and hope, critics on the right see it as an attempt to rewrite history.

Harris’s campaign struggled to generate enthusiasm from the outset, and she ultimately failed to close the polling gap with Donald Trump, who maintained steady support throughout the chaotic general election cycle.

Harris’s tenure as vice president was marred by record-low approval ratings, persistent communication missteps, and a sense that the administration was rudderless on key issues from the border to inflation.

Despite that record, Harris’s announcement leans heavily into idealism. “With candor and reflection, I’ve written a behind the scenes account of that journey,” she said. “I believe there’s value in sharing what I saw, what I learned, and what I know it will take to move forward.”

She concluded the video on a defiant note: “One truth kept coming back to me: sometimes the fight takes a while. But I remain full of hope, and I remain clear-eyed. I will never stop fighting to make our country reflect the very best of its ideals.”

But for conservatives, the takeaway is clearer: 107 Days appears less like a political roadmap and more like a postmortem.

Harris stepped into the race as a backup plan after Biden’s collapse and failed to rally a fractured Democratic coalition in time.

With the general election now firmly behind and a second Trump term on the horizon, the book may serve more as therapy for the party’s elite than guidance for the American voter.
