A new poll released on Wednesday indicated that 17% of voters, including more than one in four Democrats, believe that America would have been better off if former President Donald Trump had been shot and killed at his golf club on Sunday afternoon.

The latest news reports regarding the attempted assassination of Trump, the second in the past eight weeks, were assessed by 1,000 registered voters in a poll conducted by Scott Rasmussen’s RMG Research for Napolitan News Service.

The survey also included additional inquiries, such as whether or not Trump should have his security detail increased in response to two assassination attempts against him in the past two months.

Approximately 51% of the Democrats who were surveyed expressed that they did not perceive a necessity for heightened security measures in the vicinity of Trump.

In general, 62% of respondents believed that he should likely have more security in the future, while 32% did not.

Another inquiry focused on the potential motivation behind the assassination attempts on Trump’s life, specifically whether or not opposing political actors were involved.

The assassination attempts were believed to be orchestrated by Trump or members of his team by nearly half of Democrats (49%).

Approximately 52% of Republicans expressed concern that Vice President Kamala Harris or an individual affiliated with her campaign may have been involved.

The margin of error for this specific survey was +/-3.1.
