Gavin Newsom’s Wife to Testify Against Harvey Weinstein at Trial

Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the wife of California Governor Gavin Newsom, is one of five women who accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault and will now testify at the disgraced mogul’s next sexual assault trial, which begins this week in Los Angeles.

The former film mogul is facing rape and other sex-related accusations stemming from five female victims, including Siebel Newsom, who allege Weinstein assaulted them in hotel rooms between 2004 and 2013. All five are likely to testify, as are additional women.

The trial’s jury selection process begins on Monday.

The trial is likely to run around eight weeks, and if convicted, Weinstein could face up to an additional 140 years in jail.

Weinstein’s attorneys failed in August to postpone the Los Angeles trial due to publicity for the feature film “She Said,” which is about two New York Times reporters who broke the Weinstein and #MeToo scandals in 2018.

Weinstein is already serving a 23-year sentence in a New York jail for criminal first-degree sexual assault and third-degree rape, a verdict he has said he will appeal, claiming that juror James Burke was prejudiced against him.

In spite of already being convicted in one case, Weinstein has continued to maintain his innocence.

Weinstein had been a prolific donor and fundraiser for the Democratic party and his support was consistently courted by political power players such as failed former Democrat Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

In a 2021 report from The Washington Free Beacon it was revealed that Jennifer Siebel’s husband, California Governor Gavin Newsom had received several bottles of expensive wine from the very Democratic lawyer who had also hired private detectives to try and find dirt on Weinstein’s accusers in order to discredit their accusations of sexual assault and harassment.

The story from the Free Beacon came on the heels of an accusation from actress and high profile Weinstein accuser Rose McGowan who claimed that Siebel Newsom had contacted her in order to try and determine what it would take to buy her silence regarding her accusations against Weinstein.
