Two Israeli sources have informed Axios that Israeli intelligence indicates that Iran is preparing to launch an attack on Israel from Iraqi territory in the near future, potentially prior to the U.S. presidential election.
The assault could be an attempt by Iran to avert another Israeli attack on strategic targets in Iran by conducting it through pro-Iranian militias in Iraq rather than directly from Iranian territory.

According to the sources, Israeli intelligence indicates that the assault is anticipated to be executed from Iraq, employing a significant number of ballistic missiles and drones.
Hussein Salami, the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, stated on Thursday that Israel’s recent attack on Iran was a mistake.
He also emphasized that Iran’s reprisal will be “distinct from any scenario” that Israel may anticipate.
