On Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly underwent prostate removal surgery after being diagnosed with a urinary tract infection as a consequence of a benign prostate enlargement.

“These operations and surgeries are safe and simple, and very common, the chance of complications is very, very low. In a few days, the patient can return to full activity” Dr. Itay Sternberg stated.

Netanayhu was transferred to the hospital’s recovery chamber subsequent to the surgery, which lasted approximately two hours, according to Israeli media.

Netanyahu was required to undergo complete anesthesia during the procedure, which was conducted in a subterranean facility at the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem.

According to Amit Hadad, the prime minister’s attorney, the prime minister is anticipated to remain hospitalized for an extended period.

Hadad submitted a request to the Tel Aviv District Court on Sunday to rescind the prime minister’s scheduled testimony this week in his ongoing corruption trial.

The request was authorized by the Attorney General’s Office on Sunday.

While Netanyahu was incapacitated, Justice Minister Yariv Levin served as the interim prime minister. The political-security cabinet was chaired by Defense Minister Israel Katz.

As a result of the operation’s brief duration, the two assumed the roles for only a few hours.

Despite the fact that Netanyahu’s health issues commenced on Wednesday, no notifications regarding the Prime Minister’s health have been issued to date.

Hadad further stated that he was requesting the cancellation of the hearing for this week, but that he would “continue to provide the court with updates regarding Netanyahu’s recovery.”

Netanyahu, who is 75 years old, was implanted with a pacemaker last year to regulate an irregular heartbeat.

Additionally, he was hospitalized due to dehydration. Netanyahu underwent hernia surgery earlier this year.
