The wife of Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman has now reportedly fled the country for Canada after her husband checked himself into a D.C. area hospital for treatment for depression.
Gisele Fetterman announced on her public Twitter account that she had taken her children and fled to Canada.
Gisele’s decision to flee northwards stands in stark contrast to Fetterman’s image during his Senate race.
According to Fetterman, his wife assisted in saving his life after he suffered a near-fatal stroke on May 13. At media appearances and campaign events, Gisele was usually seen by her husband’s side.
She frequently intervened to prevent reporters from questioning Fetterman about his condition.
Concerns regarding Fetterman’s health have been confirmed, as the junior senator has been admitted to the hospital twice in his first six weeks in office.
Fetterman was brought to the hospital on February 9 after feeling dizzy at a Senate Democratic retreat.
Last Thursday, he was admitted to Walter Reed National Medical Center on the advice of Congress’s attending physician.
Fetterman is expected to remain in the hospital for several weeks.
