Former President Trump informed reporters on Saturday that he has decided who will be his running mate in November, but has not to reveal who it is.
Trump told NBC News ahead of a rally in Philadelphia that he had decided on a vice presidential candidate.
“In my mind, yeah,” Trump said when he was asked if he had decided on a pick.
When asked if his pick knew if was them, Trump said in response: “No, nobody knows.”
The selection process for Trump’s running mate has accelerated in recent weeks, with some contenders receiving vetting documents from the campaign.
Trump has stated that he may disclose his choice during the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee next month.
According to those involved with the process, the top contenders for the position are North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R), Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida).
Others who have gotten vetting papers and are being considered include Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.), and former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson.
Trump has lauded each of them at various times, but he has minimized the impact his choice may have on the final outcome in November.
