Since President Donald Trump took office on Monday, more than 2,500 illegal aliens have reportedly been detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
These agents have been following the directives of Tom Homan, who serves as the border czar for the administration of President Trump.
NBC News stated that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) authorities reported that they detained 956 people in operations around the country on Sunday alone.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have concentrated their efforts on a number of locations, including “sanctuary cities” such as Chicago and Los Angeles.
Homan stated to NBC News that the federal government made certain arrests that were considered to be “collateral” in addition to detaining illegal aliens who had been convicted of violent crimes.
Since Trump entered office, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency has not been the only federal government entity to take action against illegal immigrants who have committed crimes.
During the weekend, the Drug Enforcement Administration made arrests of fifty individuals at a “makeshift nightclub” in the state of Colorado.
According to reports, a significant number of the individuals who were apprehended during the nightclub raid in Colorado have connections to the Venezuelan criminal organization known as Tren de Aragua.
For the purpose of preventing migrants from entering the nation illegally, many branches of the United States military, including the Marine Corps and the Coast Guard, have also deployed troops and equipment.
As soon as Trump took the oath of office, Homan gave instructions to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to arrest “the most serious public safety threats throughout the country.”
An illegal immigrant from Thailand who was convicted of sex crimes involving children was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials on Sunday in Chicago.
Homan was accompanied by the television celebrity Dr. Phil, who was also present throughout the event.
