Hasan Piker, a prominent far-left streamer and political commentator, has now reportedly been suspended from Twitch following remarks he made regarding a recent terrorist attack in Washington, D.C. Piker, who boasts over 2.8 million followers on the platform, suggested that the attack—which resulted in the deaths of two Israeli embassy staff members—exhibited the hallmarks of a “false flag” operation.
The incident occurred during a live stream when Piker commented on the actions of Elias Rodriguez, the alleged shooter.
Piker stated, “You could not have designed a better false flag incident like this,” implying that the circumstances surrounding the attack were suspicious and potentially staged to serve a political agenda.
He later clarified that he did not definitively label the incident as a false flag but noted the peculiarities of the situation.
Following these comments, Twitch issued a temporary suspension for “improper handling of terrorist propaganda.”
In a post on social media, Piker expressed his dissatisfaction with the platform’s decision, arguing that critical examination of such events is essential for news and press freedom.
He stated, “I believe this is a bad policy for news and press freedom,” and indicated he would accept the suspension while hoping for a change in Twitch’s policy.
Piker’s comments come amid heightened scrutiny of political discourse surrounding acts of violence. The attack in question left two Israeli staffers—Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim—deceased.
Rodriguez has been charged with multiple counts, including murder of foreign officials and firearm-related offenses.
According to an FBI affidavit, Rodriguez shouted pro-Palestinian slogans after the shooting, claiming he acted “for Palestine.”
This is not the first time Piker has sparked controversy. In 2019, he faced backlash for stating that the United States “deserved” the 9/11 attacks, a claim he defended as a critique of U.S. foreign policy.
