The White House and President Donald Trump’s campaign team have quietly removed music by Taylor Swift from online videos previously shared across social media, eliminating the songs while leaving the videos themselves available.
One TikTok video posted six days ago featuring President Trump and first lady Melania Trump originally included Swift’s song “August.” The clip has since been muted, though the caption remains unchanged.
The caption reads, “mood because it’s August and Donald Trump is your president.”
Another video posted by Team Trump in November 2025 also no longer features music by the pop superstar. That video had previously included Swift’s song “Father Figure” before the audio was removed.
The campaign video contains footage of President Trump walking on the stairs of the White House, along with images showing him raising his fist while blood ran down his face after the assassination attempt against him during the 2024 campaign in Pennsylvania.
Neither the White House nor the Trump campaign has publicly explained why Swift’s music was removed from the videos.
Swift has also not publicly commented on the administration’s previous use of her songs in online content.
Other artists, however, have openly distanced themselves from the White House after their music appeared in content connected to the administration. According to the report, singers Ariana Grande and Katy Perry publicly rejected associations with the White House after their songs were used.
Swift has been an outspoken political opponent of Trump in recent election cycles.
During the 2024 presidential campaign, she publicly endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris for president, announcing her decision in an Instagram post.
“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris … in the 2024 presidential election,” Swift wrote at the time.
She also praised Harris, saying, “I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”
Swift had also criticized Trump during the 2020 election cycle.
In a social media post that year, she said Trump was “WELL AWARE we do not want him as our president.”
Trump has repeatedly responded to Swift’s criticism over the years.
On one occasion, the president posted, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” on social media.
He later revisited the feud in 2025, writing, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?’”
Despite the political back-and-forth between the president and the singer, Swift remains one of the music industry’s most successful performers.
The 36-year-old singer holds the record for the highest-grossing concert tour with her “Eras Tour,” which ran from 2023 through 2024.
She also received the title of Artist of the Decade at the American Music Awards in 2019 and remains among the youngest female honorees inducted into the Recording Academy’s Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Publicists representing Swift and officials with the White House did not immediately respond to requests from The Hill seeking comment on the removal of the singer’s music from videos connected to President Trump.
