President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Saturday with a series of videos urging Americans to turn out for the midterm elections, reaffirming his pledge to send $5,000 checks to voters if Republicans keep control of Congress.

The president posted five videos Saturday morning, using them to make his case for early and mail-in voting and to warn of what he described as dire economic consequences if Democrats come out on top.

“In this election, I’m asking you to pretend I’m on the ballot,” Trump said in one video. “Whenever I’m on the ballot, we get 45% more votes. So I’m not on the ballot, but pretend I am because this is a big deal.”

Trump called the upcoming contests “one of the most important elections of our lives.”

In a separate video, the president repeated his headline-grabbing promise of direct payments to Americans, tying it squarely to a Republican victory in both chambers of Congress.

“Only I can make you this promise,” Trump said. “If Republicans win the House of Representatives and the Senate in the 2026 midterm elections, I’m going to give all adult citizens in the United States of America, $5,000.”

The president also sharply criticized Democrats, arguing their policies would derail the economic gains he credits to his administration.

“We’re taking in massive amounts of money through tariffs and record economic success, but Democrat policies won’t allow this to happen,” Trump said. “In fact the opposite is going to take place. They’re gonna raise your taxes and they’re gonna destroy our country and certainly destroy our economy. It’ll be a 1929 disaster.”

Trump insisted that funding the checks would be “very easy,” pointing to revenue from tariffs and what he described as a wave of investment flowing into the country.

“The Trump dividend is approximately $1 trillion, but we have a record-setting $21 trillion that’s being invested in our country in just the last 15 months,” he said. “So it’s actually a very easy thing to do for me, but the Democrats can never do it.”

The renewed push comes after the president faced questions last month over why he would not send the checks immediately rather than linking them to the election results.

At the time, Trump pushed back on a reporter who pressed him on that point.

“I don’t want to do it now,” Trump said. “Because if the Democrats go to get in, our country will be in shambles and they won’t be able to do it.”

He went on to argue that a Republican win would keep the money flowing.

“If we get in, we’re taking in tremendous amounts of money,” Trump said. “We’re taking in over $20 trillion in terms of investment. And if the Democrats, all of that money will be thrown out.”

With the midterms approaching, the president’s message to voters was clear: he views the outcome as a referendum on his economic agenda, and he is betting that the promise of $5,000 checks will help motivate Republicans to get to the polls, whether early, by mail or on Election Day.
