Former Trump donor Eric Deters is reportedly promising to take legal action against Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. ambassador to Greece, as well as her lawyers, declaring, “It’s gonna be fun.”
The vow follows a bombshell report from The Wall Street Journal alleging that Guilfoyle, the former fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., asked Deters over Signal for $100,000 to cover her American Express bill in exchange for political influence.
Follow-up reporting from the Journal claimed that President Donald Trump is weighing whether to fire the ambassador. The outlet also reported that Guilfoyle allegedly boasted about her close relationships with two Greek tycoons, claiming they were footing the bill for her lavish travels around the globe.
On Monday, Trump confirmed those reports, telling reporters, “We are looking at it. We are not happy.”
Deters appeared on Monday’s edition of “Anderson Cooper 360°,” where CNN’s John Berman asked him, “What are the chances that you think they would fire her?”
“I think she’s gone. I think he has to fire her,” Deters said. “I think what I’ve presented, she can’t escape from. It’s black and white. It’s her own words, and I think she’s toast as a result of it. It’s grifting on the highest level, and it’s just an awful look for the administration.”
Berman then pressed Deters on claims from Guilfoyle’s attorneys that she was simply trying to collect roughly $150,000 in unpaid fees for past speaking engagements and consulting work.
“Well, I’m going to be suing those lawyers, that law firm, and Kimberly Guilfoyle here in Kentucky,” Deters said. “It’s gonna be fun.”
The former donor went on to accuse Guilfoyle’s camp of repeatedly shifting its story.
“They first said that the text messages were fake — defamation. Then they said I was a known blackmailer. I’ve never blackmailed anybody in my life. Defamation,” he said. “Now, they’re claiming that there are invoices when she knows that’s not true.”
Deters insisted the messages themselves tell a different story.
“In all the text messages, she doesn’t mention anything about me owing money. What she talks about is papering this,” he said. “So, what she asked me to do was make up that I owed her money and write her a letter, and I did that for her. She knows that is phony, and I’m gonna be suing them all for defamation.”
Berman sought to clarify the matter, asking directly, “Do you owe Ambassador Guilfoyle any money at this point?”
“I do not owe any money from Ambassador Guilfoyle, and that’s why I’m gonna sue ’em for defamation,” Deters responded.
He also revealed that he has already reached out to the White House about his plans.
“I’ve communicated with the Trump administration today, and I told them. I let them know I’m gonna be suing them for defamation and the story’s not gonna go away,” Deters said.
The dispute places fresh pressure on Guilfoyle as the president’s comments signal growing frustration within the administration over the allegations surrounding the ambassador.
