Donald Trump, the leading Republican, launched a direct social media attack against Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy on Saturday evening.
In a recent Truth Social post, Trump openly and categorically criticized Ramaswamy, labeling the Republican candidate “not MAGA.”
“Vivek started his campaign as a great supporter, ‘the best President in generations,’ etc. Unfortunately, now all he does is disguise his support in the form of deceitful campaign tricks. Very sly, but a vote for Vivek is a vote for the ‘other side’ — don’t get duped by this.” Trump wrote.
“Vote for ‘TRUMP,’ don’t waste your vote! Vivek is not MAGA,” Trump wrote. “The Biden indictments against his Political Opponent will never be allowed in this Country, they are already beginning to fall! MAGA!!!” he continued.
There is widespread speculation that Ramaswamy is well-suited to serve as Trump’s vice president or in a high-profile cabinet position on account of his unwavering endorsement of the former president and reluctance to offer criticism.
On Thursday, Ramaswamy submitted an amicus brief in support of Trump’s petition to overturn the ruling of the Colorado Supreme Court that eliminated him from the 2024 election ballot in the state.
Saturday evening, Ramaswamy responded to Trump’s assault with a video that was uploaded to X.
The current support for Ramaswamy in national Republican primary polls is 4.1%.
