In New Orleans on Wednesday, just hours after the new year began, police reported that a man in a pickup truck purposefully crashed into a crowded area, killing ten people and wounding over thirty more.
According to authorities, the motorist circumnavigated obstacles. According to a law enforcement official, he also ran people down and fired rounds into the crowd. When officers met the suspect, he exited his car with an assault rifle, the official added. The driver was then shot and killed by police.
According to authorities, the two officers who were shot are in stable condition. The inquiry has been transferred to the New Orleans branch of the Federal Bureau of inquiry.

At the press briefing, the FBI, which is looking into the attack as a terrorist act, stated that potential explosive devices were also discovered, but it gave no further information.
According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Canal and Bourbon streets in the French Quarter, a historic district renowned for its bustling bar and club scene and architecture.
LaToya Cantrell, the mayor of New Orleans, said she was in contact with the White House and described the incident as a terrorist attack.
According to the White House, President Biden was informed of the situation and extended an offer of full federal support to Cantrell.
According to police, the injured victims were sent to a minimum of five distinct hospitals.
Around the French Quarter, the city had been getting ready for a number of New Year’s celebrations, such as a parade on Tuesday afternoon and a countdown to midnight that began at 9 p.m. Less than a mile from the scene, on Wednesday night, the University of Georgia and the University of Notre Dame will play football in the Sugar Bowl in the Superdome.
Police claimed drones were patrolling the air and that more officers were stationed in the city for the activities.
The identity of the suspect, or his motivations have so far not yet been released.
