French President Macron Hints He May Send Troops to Defend Ukraine, Risking All Out War Between NATO and Russia

French President Emmanuel Macron received mixed responses from European allies and a caution from the Kremlin following his decision to not exclude the possibility of sending Western ground troops to Ukraine to combat the Russian invasion.

Macron emphasized the importance of taking all necessary measures to secure victory over Russia, including the deployment of troops, following a conference with European leaders on Monday.

A warning was issued by the Kremlin about the potential for conflict between NATO and Russia if alliance troops were to be stationed in the area, a move that would challenge a significant Western taboo.

Macron organized the conference a little over two years after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, aiming to gather more support for Kyiv as it deals with growing battlefield obstacles and depleting ammunition supplies.

He described the current situation in Russia under President Vladimir Putin as increasingly severe, pointing out a noticeable shift in attitude towards both internal affairs and the situation in Ukraine.

Macron remarked, regarding the possibility of sending French Troops to Ukraine, that “nothing should be ruled out. We will do whatever it takes to ensure that Russia cannot win this war,”
