A recent Gallup poll revealed that a majority of Americans now express their disapproval of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.
This represents a notable shift in public sentiment towards the ongoing conflict.
A recent poll conducted this month surveyed 1,016 U.S. adults and found that 55 percent of Americans disapprove of Israel’s military action in Gaza, while 36 percent approve of it.
A small percentage of respondents expressed no opinion on the matter.
The poll contains a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points.
It indicates a rising sense of dissatisfaction among Americans regarding Israel’s military actions in Gaza.
Opinions on Israel’s actions in Gaza were divided among Americans. 50 percent approved, 45 percent disapproved, and 4 percent had no opinion on the war according to another poll in November, meaning the trend line is moving in the opposite direction of Israel’s interests.
The ongoing conflict has resulted in a devastating loss of life, with over 32,490 Palestinians killed, as reported by the Gaza Health Ministry.
The escalation of violence was triggered by an attack carried out by the Hamas militant group on October 7th, which claimed the lives of approximately 1,200 innocent Israelis.
Support for the war has now decreased among both Republicans and Democrats, with a clear divide between the two groups.
In the latest poll conducted in March, it was found that 64 percent of Republicans and only 18 percent of Democrats approve of Israel’s military action.
Public opinion on Israel’s war in Gaza has shifted among supporters of both parties since November. Initially, 71 percent of Republicans approved of the war, compared to 36 percent of Democrats, a troubling trend for the Israeli government.
