After a turbulent weekend that reportedly included a string of street takeovers and a gang of looters who wrecked local shops, sheriff’s deputies in Compton resumed their patrol duties.
Early on Sunday morning, a huge gang was caught on camera robbing an Arco petrol station and taking thousands of dollars’ worth of goods as the employee on duty hid inside.
The incident occurred near Alondra Boulevard and Central Avenue.
In the footage, a single looter is seen smashing the glass door while a large group of looters surrounds him.
The gang was afterwards spotted acquiring food, beverages, snacks, wine, and even condoms.
While no injuries being recorded, investigators said that bullets were fired roughly a block distant from the store raid.
Earlier in the evening, according to LASD, deputies from the Compton station had been reacting to a number of unlawful street takeovers.
The two biggest takeovers, according to investigators, were close to the gas station robbery event and at the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and Rosecrans Avenue.
According to authorities, both accidents involved up to 500 illegal street racers.
According to LASD, both incidences resulted in break-ins and damage, including one at a laundromat.
In spite of the chaos and looting and although one individual was held, no one else was arrested for the crimes in question.
