An Australian court has now reportedly issued a directive for Elon Musk’s social media network to implement a global restriction on all users from accessing violent images associated with a church stabbing in Sydney, rather than restricting the block to only Australian users.

In the face of X Corp’s refusal to remove potentially dangerous content from the internet, the nation’s internet regulatory authority initiated legal proceedings in the Federal Court on Monday evening.

At a hastily organized hearing, a barrister for the eSafety Commissioner stated that the film, which contains explicit and violent content, is still available on X.

A 16-year-old kid has been formally accused of committing a terrorism offense in relation to the stabbings of Assyrian bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel and Father Isaac Royel during a service that was being broadcasted live last Monday night.

A stabbing incident resulted in a brawl occurring outside Christ the Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley.

In a widely circulated video, the purported assailant made reference to derogatory remarks directed at “my Prophet” before to the act of stabbing.

According to the court, the commissioner had issued an order to remove the material.

However, X’s reaction was to restrict access to the video for Australian IP addresses.

That made it available to customers from other countries or Australians who are utilizing a virtual private network headquartered outside of Australia.

The issue is likely to continue to dog the X platform, and may serve as a canary in the coalmine for what may soon become a deluge of new attempts by states to censor the platform.
