Senator John Fetterman, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, reportedly stated that Iran’s aerial attack on Israel demonstrates the United States’ unfortunate lack of unwavering support for Israel.

Fetterman reaffirmed on CNN’s “State of the Union” that there should be no prerequisites for providing greater assistance to Israel.

He also highlighted the importance of the United States supporting its friend in response to Iran’s recent missile and drone assault on Israel.

“Well, a couple of things, actually. I think it really demonstrates how it’s astonishing that we are not standing firmly with Israel. And there should never be any kinds of conditions on all that. When a nation can launch hundreds of drones towards Israel — I’m not going to be talking about conditions ever,” Fetterman said.

The United States provided assistance to Israel in successfully preventing an aerial attack consisting of over 300 missiles and drones from Iran during the night.

Israeli Cabinet officials are convening on Sunday to deliberate on Israel’s course of action, while the United States has consistently stated that it has no intention of instigating a broader conflict in the region.

Fetterman hypothesized on Sunday that Iran’s objective was to assert its position following a purported Israeli attack that resulted in the deaths of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps members at an Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria earlier this month.

“And second, I think … Iran had to have some fireworks after Israel smoked that Iranian general — and I am here for that. And I think it’s just a matter of theater … And finally, it demonstrates how unstable things are and why we need to lean in and stand with Israel,” he said.

“Well, I’m not going to suggest what Israel should or shouldn’t do on that. But I also do think that Iran is pleased … they have enough of money on the table with all of his proxies all around in the region as well, too,” he concluded.
