Iran has now threatened to deploy an unprecedented weapon against Israel in the event that Israel responds to Tehran’s missile and drone onslaught.
Israel informed Iran that they will not escape without consequences for the strikes.
The international community anxiously awaits Iran’s answer, concerned about the potential outbreak of an unmanageable conflict throughout the Middle East.
However, Iranian security head Abolfazl Amouei issued a warning yesterday night, stating that if Israel were to retaliate, Tehran would take action and is “prepared to use a weapon that we have never used.”
Many informed observers believe he may be referring to a nuclear or chemical weapon.
The specific weapon that Amouei was referring to remains ambiguous, however, he cautioned Israel to exercise prudence when contemplating its future actions.
In response to the threats, a senior IDF spokesperson pledged that Iran will be met with reprisals.
Iran launched a barrage of at least 330 ballistic and cruise missiles and drones on Saturday night, marking the first instance of Tehran directly attacking Israel.
Iran had vowed to retaliate for a lethal attack on its consulate building in Damascus earlier this month, but its assault was unsuccessful in breaching Israel’s defensive measures.
The Israel Iron Dome defense system, together with allied airplanes such as the UK’s RAF Typhoons, successfully intercepted and destroyed 99 percent of the incoming rockets.
