On Friday morning, authorities detained and placed No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler in the backseat of a police vehicle as he attempted to reach the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, for the second round of the PGA Championship.
Scheffler allegedly provoked a traffic-directing officer by attempting to pass by his vehicle.
Following that, the officer “attempted to attach himself to Scheffler’s car,” according to a witness to the bizarre incident who reported for ESPN, Jeff Darlington.
The officer instructed the golfer to depart his vehicle at the entrance to the golf club, where he had stopped.
The officer shoved Scheffler against the vehicle as soon as he departed the vehicle and placed him in handcuffs without delay.
The ESPN reporter uploaded a video to X that depicted Scheffler being apprehended prior to his removal in the rear of the police vehicle.
A pedestrian was killed in a collision outside Valhalla Golf Club, which prompted the presence of dozen police vehicles.
