Manosphere influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested Saturday by U.S. Marshals in Miami and are awaiting extradition to the United Kingdom, where prosecutors have significantly expanded the criminal case against the brothers with a new slate of sex crime charges.
According to TMZ, the arrests took place Saturday afternoon outside a Miami event venue where Andrew Tate was scheduled to co-host a bare-knuckle boxing match. The brothers were taken into custody as British authorities announced additional charges stemming from an ongoing investigation.
The developments come after the United Kingdom’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) revealed that prosecutors had approved numerous new criminal counts against both men, adding to the original 21 charges previously announced.
In a statement, the CPS said Andrew Tate, 39, will face seven additional counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and 19 additional charges involving alleged offenses related to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography.
Tristan Tate, 38, was also hit with new allegations. Prosecutors said he will face one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.
According to the CPS, the alleged offenses span a period between July 2010 and August 2017.
“We have decided to prosecute Andrew and Tristan Tate for further offences including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation and offences relating to indecent images of a child,” Malcolm McHaffie, Head of the Special Crime Division at the Crown Prosecution Service, said in a statement announcing the decision.
British prosecutors also said the latest charging decisions followed the receipt of an additional file of evidence from Bedfordshire Police. Authorities stated that the expanded case now involves seven alleged victims.
“These charging decisions followed receipt of a further file of evidence from Bedfordshire Police and bring the total number of alleged victims in this case to seven,” the CPS said in its announcement.
Bedfordshire Police separately confirmed the overall scope of the prosecution has grown considerably following the latest review of evidence.
According to police, the brothers now face a combined total of 59 criminal charges.
Officials said that 42 of those charges have been authorized against Andrew Tate, while Tristan Tate has been charged with 17 offenses.
“Of these, 42 charges have been authorised against Andrew Tate, and 17 against Tristan Tate,” Bedfordshire Police said in a statement.
The charges authorized against the brothers collectively include allegations of rape, human trafficking, sexual assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and offenses related to indecent images of a child, according to authorities.
The arrests in Miami mark the latest development in the high-profile legal proceedings involving the Tate brothers. With U.S. Marshals taking them into custody, the pair are now awaiting extradition to the United Kingdom, where they are expected to answer the expanded list of criminal allegations filed by British prosecutors.
The Crown Prosecution Service and Bedfordshire Police both indicated that the latest charges were approved after investigators submitted additional evidence, significantly increasing both the number of alleged offenses and the number of alleged victims involved in the case.
