Donald Trump, the presumed Republican presidential nominee, declared his intention to organize a rally in the South Bronx the following week, following the attendance of tens of thousands of supporters at his event last Saturday in the Democratic stronghold of New Jersey.
The rally would take place directly in the heart of one of the most liberal cities in America.
The New York Post reported that the rally in New York City will be Trump’s first in his home state since his successful 2016 presidential campaign.
Team Trump issued a statement announcing the South Bronx rally in which it criticized the “failed policies” of President Joe Biden, from which he claimed New Yorkers have suffered greatly.
As his hush-money trial continues, Trump spends the majority of the week in New York City, which separates him from the campaign trail for four days.
Nonetheless, throughout his criminal prosecution, the former president has attempted to connect with New York City voters.
The former president met with bodega employees in Manhattan in April to discuss the increase in crime in New York City.
Additionally, earlier this month, Trump delivered pizzas to New York City Fire Department personnel.
The South Bronx rally for Trump will be held in Crotona Park on Thursday, May 23.
The Trump campaign has reportedly obtained permission for a maximum of 3,500 individuals to participate in the rally.
Team Trump further stated that the former president’s speech will center on the economy, crime, and the crisis of illegal immigration.
