On Wednesday, IDF Northern Commander Maj. Gen. Uri Gordon reportedly advised his troops that they must be “we need to be very ready to go into action and to invade” Lebanon in response to the intensifying conflict with Hezbollah.
He emphasized to Brigade 7 that their actions must alter the security reality for Israel’s 60,000 northern residents, who have been evacuated from their homes for nearly a year.
The announcement comes in the wake of devastating attacks against the terror group Hezbollah, which largely controls Lebanon, by Israel. Attacks which have been unprecedented in their scope and power.
On Wednesday, former IDF intelligence chief Amos Yadlin stated that the IDF should employ air power to degrade Hezbollah for two weeks prior to initiating a ground forces invasion.
Western powers are still striving to persuade Israel to forgo a ground invasion in favor of diplomacy.
In the interim, all IDF political and defense officials have acknowledged that diplomacy will ultimately be required to solidify any long-term gains from the use of military force, even in the event of a ground invasion.

The idea that diplomacy can resolve an issue in which one side believes their god has decreed that they must kill all non-believers and advance their beliefs to the entire world – as violently as necessary, and that any part of the world that is not Muslim is the “world of war,” is so childish that only a diplomat or an ignoramus could possibly believe it. Pre-modern, non-Western cultures such as Islam live by their ideology, not on Western notions of “diplomacy” or rationality. Anyone professing “multiculturalism” should understand this. Theirs is a different culture, and it is not bound by our ideas and rules.
