Pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered in large numbers in Washington, DC, on Saturday afternoon, and then descended on the White House to yell “Allahu akbar” and “F–k Joe Biden” while accusing the president of genocide and calling for a stop to hostilities in the Gaza Strip.
Others screamed, “Long live the Intifada,” an Arabic term referring to the uprising in the Palestinian territories, particularly the wars that claimed hundreds of lives between 1987 and 1993 and between 2000 and 2005.
It is estimated by unofficial accounts that over 100,000 people attended the rally.
A male was taken into custody for property destruction at 5:30 p.m., according to DC police. What exactly he was destroying is unknown.
Many of the demonstrators paused outside the White House to shout on Biden to declare a ceasefire as they started to march through the streets of Washington, DC. Biden was at his holiday house in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
At approximately 6:30 p.m., demonstrators were calling for Joe Biden’s resignation and spreading red paint on the White House gates.
To wave a Palestinian flag, one protestor even climbed the security fence surrounding the Executive Mansion.
with addition, demonstrators broke the windows of a nearby McDonald’s, which was already covered with spray paint and stickers endorsing the Palestinian cause.
