Conservatives on Twitter reportedly attacked a recently leaked video of HHS Assistant Secretary Rachel Levine urging Big Tech corporations to restrict “misinformation” regarding “gender-affirming treatment” for children on the internet.
Levine, a transgender woman, made the comments in May, but the video became viral on Twitter shortly after Christmas. Prominent Twitter users expressed outrage that a government official had asked digital firms to block information that questioned if gender-affirming treatment for youngsters has “positive value.”
Dr. Levine spoke about the necessity for the government to “address health misinformation directly” at a May 27 zoom speech to the Federation of State Medical Boards in New Orleans.
On Twitter, opponents of online censorship and pushing minors to undergo gender transformations slammed the film.
Levine claimed that LGBT individuals were “facing an onslaught of anti-LGBTQI+ actions at the state levels across the United States,” and that “They are dangerous to the public health.”
