According to to a new report, Harmeet Dhillon, an RNC committeewoman whose business has repeatedly worked on the behalf of Donald Trump, is apparently preparing a candidacy to challenge Ronna McDaniel for the position of party chair.
Dhillon has reportedly been discussing a potential candidacy with fellow RNC members.
Dhillion made the announcement on Monday.
Dhillon’s candidacy will mark the most serious threat McDaniel has yet faced in her political career.
Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY), who launched an ultimately unsuccessful campaign for governor of New York, has also expressed interest in running, but he has yet to declare his candidacy.
Mike Lindell, the MyPillow founder and outspoken Trump supporter who rose to national infamy by questioning the legitimacy of the 2020 election, has also started a longshot candidacy for the McDaniel’s position.
The committee’s 168 members will now vote to choose the RNC chairperson at the committee’s annual winter conference at Dana Point, Calif., in late January 2023.
McDaniel has led the RNC since 2017 and would be the longest-serving chair in more than a century if re-elected for a fourth term.
In the past, Dhillon’s law firm has represented various senior MAGA figures, including Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake as well as Trump himself, in his negotiations with the congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol incident.
In addition she has long been a conservative activist, serving as chair of the Republican National Lawyers Association and as a past chair of the San Francisco Republican Party.

Ronna is “Romney” McDaniel. As in Mitt Romney her uncle. I don’t trust her as far as I cna spit and will not donate to RNC because of her. I think she is as corrupt as hell. Where has all the money gone? Who decides who gets what?
Seems an odd time for a challenge since Ronna has already chosen a venue for 2024 – her home town amidst Democrats – last years city the Dems used too ! So getting rid of her will not change this poor choice unless Trump can bring them around – no one else can. Just seems like more backstabbing of Trump by the RNC
