Five homeless persons were shot and killed in Las Vegas mere hours after police announced they were searching for a serial killer responsible for the deaths of three more in Los Angeles.
At 5:30 pm, a solitary shooter opened fire on a gathering of destitute individuals in the northern region of Las Vegas, close to a highway overpass.
Initially, the police reported that the shooting claimed the lives of two individuals; however, one fatality has been validated and another is in critical condition.
At the site, one victim was pronounced dead.
An additional three males are reported as being in stable condition, whereas one male is classified as critical.
The bloodbath in Las Vegas occurred on the same day that Los Angeles officials announced they were searching for a serial murderer responsible for three separate attacks on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday that left homeless individuals sleeping in alleyways.
Then, mere hours later, Las Vegas police were dispatched to a shooting with similar characteristics; however, the connection between the incidents has not been formally confirmed.
The identities and ages of the casualties in Las Vegas remain unknown at this time. The victims identified in Los Angeles were one Black male and two Hispanic males.
A CCTV image of a hooded suspect and a dark-colored sedan believed to be associated with the murders was released by detectives.
