The Catholic bishop of Tyler, Texas, has reportedly condemned President Joe Biden’s “false Catholicism” and asked the Vatican to intervene after the president stated that Pope Francis and some bishops do not oppose public financing for abortion.
“No, they are not all doing that, nor is the pope,” Biden responded after being asked by a reporter about a request from Catholic Bishops to end tax-payer funded abortion.
Bishop Joseph Strickland of the Catholic Diocese of Tyler immediately criticized the president’s remarks and demanded that the Vatican reply.
“Mr. Biden can’t be allowed to twist the words of Pope Francis in this way. I implore the Vatican press office to emphatically clarify that Pope Francis rightly calls abortion murder. It is time to denounce Biden’s fake Catholicism.” Strickland replied in a Tweet.
As the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis has been a strong advocate for the protection of human life, including the lives of unborn children.
Pope Francis has consistently opposed abortion, viewing it as a violation of human life and dignity. He has stated that all human life, regardless of its stage or condition, must be respected and protected. This includes the life of the unborn, which he considers to be sacred and inviolable.
The Pope has also argued that the right to life is the foundation of all other human rights and that society must work to protect the most vulnerable members of society, including unborn children.
