Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene called for a “national divorce” between red and blue states in a tweet on Monday morning.
“We need a national divorce. We need to separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal government. Everyone I talk to says this. From the sick and disgusting woke culture issues shoved down our throats to the Democrat’s traitorous America Last policies, we are done.” Greene wrote.
Greene had previously voiced a similar plea, polling her Twitter followers in October 2021 to determine whether America should have a national divorce.
Greene later stressed that a national divorce would be a civil judicial process rather than a civil conflict.
Greene’s comments are typical of the Georgia congressman, whose earlier views have gotten her in deep water with Democrats and even GOP leadership.
Greene was a vocal opponent of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and ran as an anti-establishment candidate.
McCarthy won her over before his acrimonious speakership battle began, but the action did not endear Greene to her fiery colleagues who opposed McCarthy’s gavel bid.
