During a new interview, Steve Bannon, who had previously served as an adviser to President-elect Trump at the White House, reportedly stated that he is now in favor of boosting taxes on corporations and the affluent.
“I’m for a dramatic increase in corporate taxes. We have to increase taxes on the wealthy. For getting our guys’s taxes cut, we’ve got to cut spending, which they’re gonna resist. Where does the tax revenue come from? Corporations and the wealthy,” Bannon remarked in a brand new interview with Semafor.
“And when they start squealing, we have a conversation. We’re all partners in this, everybody’s going to take a little pain, but the working people are going to take less pain than you guys.” he added.
While on the campaign trail, Trump, who was Bannon’s former boss, stated that he wants to extend several features in the tax law that he passed in 2017, which was his most notable economic victory during his first term in the White House.
Additionally, he pledged to reduce taxes both on tips and on Social Security.
Additionally, Trump has demonstrated his support for lowering the rate of taxation on corporate income to 15 percent.
Additionally, the next president has stated that he intends to impose tariffs on goods that are imported into the country in order to encourage domestic production and increased investment in jobs in the United States.
Furthermore, during the course of the conversation, Bannon reaffirmed his unwavering support for a number of those economic initiatives.
During his speech to supporters of the Republican Party at the annual banquet held by the New York Young Republican Club this past weekend, the host of “Bannon’s War Room Podcast” expressed a similar viewpoint regarding the assessment of taxes on affluent individuals and corporations.
Rep. Ro Khanna, a Democrat from California, expressed agreement with Bannon’s position regarding the imposition of more taxes on corporations and affluent individuals.
