AOC Under Fire After Claiming Bill Protecting Parents’ Rights is ‘Fascism’

On Thursday, conservatives reportedly took to social media to condemn Democratic Representative for the United States House of Representatives Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez of New York for claiming that the Parents Bill of Rights, which is being discussed in Congress and is backed by Republicans, is “fascist.”

The stated purpose of the measure is to encourage and facilitate increased parental engagement in their children’s educational experiences.

Ocasio-Cortez, on the other hand, criticized it as an attempt to restrict racist content and a targeting of LGBT students.

She also urged Republicans to leave the “cultural war” out of the classroom.

“The Parents Bill of Rights has 5 pillars to ensure parents have the right to have a voice in their kids’ education: Right to know what’s being taught in schools and to see reading material; Right to be heard; Right to see school budget and spending; Right to protect their child’s privacy; [and] Right to be updated on any violent activity at school.” House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said.

Some states that are headed by Republicans have successfully enacted similar legislation and had it signed into law.

For instance, the governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, has supported and signed a number of measures aimed at combating CRT and DEI projects inside the state’s educational system.

On Twitter Conservatives were quick to blast Cortez for the seemingly unhinged accusations:
