The crisis in Haiti is reaching critical levels, with growing frustration among the population towards the gangs and politicians responsible for the country’s descent into chaos.
However, with the ongoing escalation of violence on the streets of Port-au-Prince, the people of Haiti are increasingly expressing their frustration towards the United States.
An investigation revealed that a significant number of weapons flowing into Haiti can be traced back to the United States.
Throughout the years, Washington’s involvement in Haiti has led to the rise of unpopular leaders and the wasteful expenditure of billions of dollars.
One notable instance was the Clinton-led initiative to rebuild Haiti after the devastating earthquake in 2010.
On several occasions, there has been a peculiar sight – Haitian protestors raising Russian flags.
According to a journalist in Port-au-Prince, who preferred to remain anonymous and spoke with the Daily Express, numerous Haitians attribute the ongoing crisis to the unsuccessful interventions by the US.
“I also think there is a healthy fraction of the Haitian population that is highly critical of US policies in Haiti…The US policies and lack of control of what is coming out of the country are responsible for gun violence across Latin America.” he remarked.
“This is why you have protests with tens of thousands of people, and some of them raise the flags of Russia as a way to proclaim how fed up they are with US policies that are detrimental to Haiti’s political health.” he concluded.
