Steve Bannon has now predicted that Donald Trump will run for a third term in 2028, suggesting that a tax increase on wealthy Americans could bolster his chances of winning.
In an interview with NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo, Bannon discussed internal deliberations concerning tax policy, hinting that Trump might propose significant tax cuts for working and middle-class Americans.
To offset these cuts, Bannon stated that Trump plans to raise taxes on the rich, which he believes could politically benefit Trump in the upcoming election.
During the conversation, Cuomo pressed Bannon on the feasibility of cutting taxes while simultaneously investing in future job sectors like STEM.
Bannon responded that the financial logistics of Trump’s tax strategy would only work if taxes on wealthier individuals were increased.
He emphasized that this approach could help Trump regain manufacturing jobs in the U.S. Bannon also mentioned that Trump had previously considered raising taxes on the wealthy during his first term but was dissuaded by his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, whom Bannon characterized as a “liberal” Democrat.
Despite the constraints of the 22nd Amendment, which prohibits any individual from being elected president more than twice, Trump and his allies have increasingly hinted at the possibility of a third presidential run.
Bannon speculated that Trump could successfully campaign for a third term, arguing that the amendment does not specify that the terms must be consecutive.
As the conversation unfolded, it became clear that Bannon believes a strategic tax policy could be a crucial element of Trump’s platform as he aims for a return to the presidency in 2028.
