The senior strategist for Evan McMullin’s 2016 presidential campaign has reportedly been jailed in Florida on allegations of child sex abuse.
Joel Searby worked on McMullin’s campaign and is the managing director of the “Forward Party” in Utah.
Searby, 43, was booked into Alachua County Jail on charges of communication to entice a minor, communication to travel to meet a minor, lewd and lascivious behavior, and using a communication device to commit a crime.
The arrest occurred following a Snapchat communication on Wednesday between Searby and a 15-year-old boy.
Searby began questioning the teen if he had ever had a crush on an older male.
The former anti-Trump McMullin strategist then told the adolescent about a sexual encounter he had with an older man when he was younger.
Searby emailed the youngster many images with his face disguised in them, including one with his hand in his pants.
He then suggested the adolescent sneak out and meet him at Searby’s guest house in Florida.
Searby had been heavily involved in political activities before to McMullin’s 2016 campaign. He has been extremely active on his Substack, “New Way Politics.”
