In the face of calls for him to withdraw from the presidential race, Rep. James E. Clyburn (D-S.C.), a significant prior backer of President Biden, declared on Friday that he is “all in” for the president’s reelection campaign.

During an interview with the “Today” show, Clyburn discussed Biden’s performance at his first press conference of the year and the worries Democrats had about his chances of winning the election and holding onto office.

“I took him at his word, and that’s why I am all in. I’m riding with Biden no matter where he goes, no matter what method he takes.” Clyburn said.

According to Clyburn, he is taking President Biden at his word when he says he won’t withdraw.

The senator from South Carolina restated his earlier remarks and declared that he would also be “all in” for Vice President Harris to succeed Biden as the front-runner if the former decides to withdraw from the race.

The morning following Biden’s lone news appearance following this week’s NATO meeting in Washington, Clyburn appeared on the program.

The president took questions from reporters regarding foreign policy and his chances of winning reelection during his almost hour-long speech.

Biden had referred to Russian President Vladimir Putin as “Putin,” or Volodymyr Zelensky, during an event a few hours prior.
