Over the weekend, former President Donald J. Trump reportedly intensified his threats to bring legal action against radical neoconservatives.
He posted messages on his social media platform referring to “televised military tribunals” and demanding the imprisonment of prominent politicians, including Senators Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer, Vice President Joe Biden, and former Vice President Mike Pence.
On Sunday, Mr. Trump advocated for the imprisonment of two posts made by other users of the website that he believed to be his political rivals.
He did this by using his Truth Social account.
In one of the posts he shared on Sunday, he specifically called for Liz Cheney, a radical Republican critic of Mr. Trump and former congresswoman from Wyoming, to face charges in a military court meant for enemy combatants and war criminals.
“ELIZABETH LYNNE CHENEY IS GUILTY OF TREASON. RETRUTH IF YOU WANT TELEVISED MILITARY TRIBUNALS.” the post said.
Members of the House committee that looked into the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, were listed in the second post as well.
The Democratic Representatives Adam Schiff, Jamie Raskin, Pete Aguilar, Zoe Lofgren, and Bennie Thompson chaired the committee, along with Ms. Cheney and another Republican, former Illinois congressman Adam Kinzinger.
The Trump campaign repeated claims of wrongdoing by committee members in a statement when asked about Trump’s posts.
