Communist Chinese authorities detained and badly beat a BBC journalist who was reporting on the large demonstrations that had erupted around the country in response to the communist dictatorship’s bizarrely harsh coronavirus lockdown measures.

Ten people were killed in a fire at a residential high-rise building in the city of Urumqi on Thursday, according to reports.

According to the New York Times and Reuters, videos of the incident uploaded on social media sparked suspicions that lockdowns contributed to the deaths.

Residents of the city had been reportedly locked down and forbidden from leaving their houses for up to 100 days at a time

Outside of Shanghai, large cities and college campuses saw significant protests.

On Sunday, protests erupted in Wuhan, Chengdu, Lanzhou, and Beijing.

Protests in Wuhan allegedly got violent, with people crashing through metal barriers, toppling testing tents, and demanding that the ultra-harsh lockdowns be lifted.

During the chaos, Journalist Edward Lawrence was shown being badly beaten up by Chinese authorities in a social media post that has since gone viral.

The BBC issued a statement in which it stated that it was very worried about the deteriorating situation in China and how the country’s authorities were treating foreign journalists in the country.

The reporter, Edward Lawrence, had recently shared another video which showed Communist police forcing individuals to hand them their phones and then forcing them to delete images and videos from the demonstrations.
