Israeli football supporters were reportedly assaulted on the streets after the Europa League match between Ajax and Maccabi Tel Aviv at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Thursday night.

The Dutch city implemented emergency measures in response to “hit-and-run” attacks that targeted fans who had been filming themselves destroying flags and chanting anti-Arab lyrics.

The attacks resulted in five injuries and 62 arrests.

According to the police, a tram was set on fire by dozens of individuals who were armed with poles on Monday evening.

The square was promptly evacuated by riot officers after the fire was promptly extinguished, according to the police.

Individuals were observed setting off pyrotechnics and damaging property in online images.

It was unclear to the police who initiated the unrest and whether it was associated with the events of the previous week.

However, they observed the tense atmosphere that ensued after a match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax on Thursday, during which five individuals were hospitalized and dozens were detained.

According to Amsterdam’s mayor, young people on scooters and foot pursued Israeli admirers, striking and kicking them before fleeing to evade the police.

In the course of their investigation into the aforementioned violence, the Dutch police made five additional arrests on Monday.

From Amsterdam or neighboring cities, the suspects are individuals between the ages of 18 and 37. The fifth individual has been released, but they continue to be considered a suspect.
