On Monday, Philadelphia authorities arrested a prominent LGBTQ+ activist on suspicion that she participated in the rapes of two young boys.
Kendall Stephens, age 37, was charged by the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General.
In September 2023, sexual assaults allegedly targeting two minor children were reported to the Philadelphia Police Special Victims Unit.
Stephens is accused of multiple offenses including child endangerment, corruption of minors, two counts of rape, indecent assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.
The next court date for her is scheduled for December 29. A judge set her bond at $250,000.
In situations involving conflicts of interest, the Attorney General’s office frequently accepts cases from local district attorneys.
Following this, Stephens rose to prominence as an LGBTQ+ transgender activist, urging Pennsylvania legislators to amend the hate crimes statute to include protections for LGBTQ+ individuals.
