On Sunday pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered in front of an Israeli-American falafel store in Philadelphia and accused the proprietors of “genocide” for their support of Israel following the October 7 terrorist attacks by Hamas.
Chef Michael Solomonov, an Israeli national, owns the establishment. In October, he declared that his company would be conducting a fund-raising campaign for Friends of United Hatzalah, an organization that provides emergency medical services to injured individuals in Israel.
The Philadelphia Free Palestine Coalition (PFPC)-organized demonstration marched to Goldie and began chanting that the company was complicit in “genocide.”
Saturday on its Facebook page, the coalition announced the demonstration and urged attendees to “flood the streets” in support of Gaza.
Pennsylvania Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro referred to the demonstration’s focus on Goldie as a “blatant act of antisemitism.”
