IDF soldier Private Ori Megedish was saved on Sunday night during an IDF operation in Gaza, the IDF and Shin Bet announced in a joint statement on Monday.
She was abducted on October 7 by terrorists from Hamas, but she is already back with her family.
“Last night, our forces freed Private Ori Megedish from Hamas captivity. O)ri was abducted on the dark morning of October 7th. Welcome back home, Ori. I commend the Shin Bet and the IDF for this significant and emotional achievement, an achievement that reflects our commitment to bringing all the captives home. All of Israel pays tribute to the Shin Bet and the IDF. To the Hamas terrorists and to ISIS, I say – you are monsters. We will continue to pursue you, we will continue to hunt you down. We will strike you until you yield from our grip.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on social media.
Megidish underwent another medical check, and the results showed that she is in good health.
According to the statement, every effort would be made by the IDF and Shin Bet to achieve the release of the remaining hostages.
President Isaac Herzog quickly expressed his gratitude for Megedish’s rescue on Monday night in a message posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
