Senator Mitt Romney, a Republican from Utah, now reportedly believes that Senator JD Vance, a Republican from Ohio and the Vice President-elect, will be the nominee for the Republican Party’s presidential nomination in the year 2028.
As part of his Congressional exit interview, Romney appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday.
During the interview, host Jake Tapper questioned Romney about the Republican Party after the election of Donald Trump.
The Senator from Utah made the observation that Vance, whom Trump selected as his running mate during the summer, is almost certainly going to be the future head of the Republican Party due to the fact that he is intelligent, articulate, and a supporter of the MAGA movement.
“Oh, MAGA is the Republican Party, and Donald Trump is the Republican Party today,” Romney remarked.
“And if you were to ask me who the nominee will be in 2028, it’ll be JD Vance,” he added.
Romney is a critic of both Trump and Vance, and he stated on Sunday that he did not want to revisit his criticisms of both of them.
According to him, they have coordinated their efforts in the Senate ever since he made his disparaging remarks about Vance.
During the discussion, he made the observation that going forward, it is quite probable that both parties would be required to rethink the messaging that they convey to voters, particularly those people who shifted from the left to the right during the most recent democratic election.
In the beginning of this month, Romney gave his farewell speech on the floor of the Senate.
In a time when partisanship is at an all-time high, he urged for members on both sides of the aisle to work toward unity and collaborate in order to achieve bipartisanship.
