Planned Parenthood will reportedly build a new mobile abortion clinic in southern Illinois in the near future in an attempt to promote abortion among Missourians after the state prohibited the practice in virtually all circumstances in June.
The mobile clinic will be part of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri and will move along the border with Missouri.
The clinic, which will perform both pharmaceutical abortions and surgical abortions, is set to open by the end of the year, according to the group.
Missouri passed the trigger ban just minutes after the United States Supreme Court overruled Roe v. Wade in June.
The mobile clinic will be Planned Parenthood’s first in the country, providing access to citizens in a state where abortion was illegal following the court’s ruling and could signal a new strategy by the radical left wing group in its quest to promote abortion across the country.
Since Missouri’s trigger ban went into effect, Planned Parenthood has reported increasing demand in both Kansas and Illinois, but no mobile clinics have been announced near the state’s border with Kansas.
Missouri’s 2019 abortion ban prohibits the practice in almost all situations save medical emergencies and excludes exclusions for rape and incest.
